Sprint Cars Return This Saturday

EVANS MILLS, NY – Saturday June 17th the Empire Super Sprints Series returns to the Evans Mills Raceway Park for their Asphalt Spectacular presented by Caskinette Ford and the Evans Mills Walmart. The Kevin Ward Jr. Memorial Race is a $4,000 to win race thanks to a personal donation from the Ward family. The race also pays $500 to take the green flag. Alongside the 360 sprint cars will be all weekly divisions of racing including the Caskinette Ford Sportsman Modifieds, Excess Storage Pro Late Models, Christman Fuel Service INEX Legends, Sport Compacts, and Thunderstocks.

To continue to honor the legacy of Kevin Ward Jr. the Evans Mills Raceway Park gifts an annual cash award to a student in good standing at the Howard G. Sackett Technical Center, a school Ward graduated from. This year’s recipient of the award is Ryan Larkins of Lowville Academy. Ryan will be in attendance Saturday to meet the Ward family and be recognized.

The Evans Mills Walmart will also be on hand raising money to benefit the local Children’s Miracle Network as part of the Samaritan Medical Center. Activities to raise money include a Pie in the Face auction, Dunk Tank, and a gift basket raffle. All the money raised will stay local. Children’s Miracle Network families will be in attendance for the race as well.

Caskinette Ford has been a fantastic supporter of the Evans Mills Raceway Park and a mainstay as the official pace vehicle provider. Last year’s Caskinette Ford ESS Asphalt Spectacular saw Danny Varin take the checkered flag. This year $4,000 is up for grabs including bonus lap sponsorship money from local businesses and fans.

The Caskinette Ford Sportsman Modified division is a tight race at the top between Bryce Bailey (3 wins) and Kreig Heroth (2 wins). Joe Papin, Tony Pettinelli, and Steven Sherwood represent the next three spots. The Christman Fuel Service INEX Legends saw another first time winner last week in Camdin Cook. Factoring in the mandatory race drop for drivers, Chris Malbeuf (230 pts.) sits atop Cook (228 pts.) followed by Brayton Malbeuf and Devin Thornton. The Excess Storage Pro Late Models saw Rylee Gill settle into his winning ways after taking home feature victories in back to back weeks. Chuck Powelczyk also returned to victory lane for his third time this season in the Sport Compacts and Kevin Greenfield continues to be the class of the field in Thunderstocks.
