Rogers returns to Victory Lane!

Evans Mills, NY-Racing resumed to the historic Evans Mills Raceway Park on Saturday night as the 2024 season heads into the final full month of racing.  A large crowd welcomed great weather and even better racing as EMRP hosted Military Appreciation Night.

The first feature of the evening saw Damon Bush and Fred Siebert lead the field of Christman Fuel Service INEX Legends to the green flag.  However, it would be Brayton Malbeuf leading the first lap after starting in the fifth position.  Malbeuf would lead the opening laps and through the first restart on lap 5.  By lap 8, after pressuring Malbeuf for laps, Joel Hall would be able to find a fast groove on the outside of the track and take the lead.  The final caution flew on lap 13; Hall would maintain his lead and go on to win his third feature of the season.

The Excess Storage Pro Late Models took to the track next as Justin Coachman and Tyler Papin started on the front row.  Papin would take the lead on the opening lap and not look back.  Papin was too strong for all of his challenges as Terry Gardner and Rylee Gill would try multiple lanes and attempts to get by Papin, all to no avail.  Papin would go on to take his second checkered flag of the season and inch closer to the overall points lead.

The visiting Classic Asphalt Modifieds returned for their second stop of the season.  Norm Gervais would control of the race on lap one, but quickly would have a competitor in Erik Gall. Coming from the back of the field Gall would take the race lead on the second lap.  Gall would be the pace setter until John Semmler would charge to the front on lap 8.  By the next lap, Semmler would get to the inside of Gall and narrowly take the race lead.  Semmler would keep the hammer down and go on to win the 15-lap feature.

Kaden Rogers and Joel Hargrave lead the Kinney Drugs Sportsman Modifieds to the green flag for their 35-Lap feature.  Rogers would take the lead in the early laps as Hargrave would stay in close contact with the leader.  Two quick cautions came out on lap 18 and 19.  Rogers would continue to be at the point, but would find a new challenger in Taylor Caprara.  Rogers held off Caprara on the restart and would have his hands full for the remaining laps.  Caprara would consistently challenge for the lead on the outside of the track, but could not find enough speed to take the lead.  The final caution flew on lap 28, with Rogers remaining in the top spot.  Caprara would turn up the wick and try high and low to get by the leader.  Rogers would do a tremendous job keeping his car just off the bottom, making it difficult for Caprara to find enough speed.  Rogers would hold off the former track champion, lead all 35 laps and take home his first feature win of the season.

The final feature of the evening were the Stewart Shop’s Sport Compact and Fenix U-Pull U-Save Thunderstock.  Bridget Austin and Sam Curcie made up the front row, as Austin would take the lead on the opening laps.  An early caution on lap 4 would slow the field as Austin and Kevin Greenfield would restart on the front row.  Despite showing a vast improvement this season, Austin would not be able hold of Greenfield on the restart.  Greenfield would continue his undefeated streak and win his ninth race in a row in the Sport Compacts.  Jared took home his third win of the season as he made a pass on Justin Burns for the race lead in the closing laps.
