Evans Mills, NY-Fan favorite bike night was held on Saturday night as the weather held off to complete the weeks racing event. Thanks to the generosity of the drivers and race teams, 23 children went home with new bikes to close out summer. It was also Twin 20 lap features for the Kinney Drugs Sportsman Modifieds.
The first modified feature saw Joel Hargrave and Tony Pettinelli start on the front row. Hargrave would take the race led on the start. An early caution on lap 5 would slow the field. Hargrave would keep his race lead on the restart, holding off Pettinelli and Dylan Bancroft. Two late race cautions slowed the field on laps 16 and 17. Hargrave would be too tough to tame and hold off Joe Papin and Taylor Caprara, to win his first feature in over two years.

Bridget Austin and Chuck Powelczyk made up the front row for the Stewart Shop’s Sport Compacts and the Fenix U-Pull U-Save Thunderstocks. Tony Pettinelli would claim the top spot on the start as Kevin Greenfield quickly worked into the second position. The two leaders would pull away from the field as Pettinelli would hold off multiple attempts from Greenfield to take the top spot. As the laps ticked off, Pettinelli would build a half a straightaway lead. On lap 18 Pettinelli would catch lap traffic, allowing Greenfield to catch up. As the leaders entered turn three, they would make contact, ending both chances for a win. Corey Mayer would inherit the lead and go on to win his first career feature in the Sport Compacts. Justin Burns would hold off a hard charging Colby Goodale to win his fourth feature of the season.

Justin Coachman and Chuck Meyer led the Excess Storage Pro Late Models to the green flag. Meyer would take the lead on the start. Last week’s winner, Tyler Papin would work into the second position and quickly apply pressure to Meyer. Papin would work the high side of the track and by lap 10 would find a grove and get by Meyer for the lead. Papin would go on to lead the final 5 laps and win his second feature in a row and his third overall.

The Christman Fuel Service INEX Legends took to the track next for their 20-lap feature. Landen Herring and Quillon Dann started on the front row and would exchange leads on the opening two laps. By lap 3 it was Brayton Malbeuf taking the top spot and leading until the first caution flew on lap 7. On the restart, Matt Haufe would line up on the outside of Malbeuf. Haufe would clear Malbeuf on the exit of turn 2 to take the lead. Haufe would maintain his lead on the final two restarts and go on to claim the win. It would be his 4th of the season, in as many starts at EMRP.

The Kinney Drugs Sportsman Modifieds returned for their second feature of the evening. After the first feature, an invert of 12 was pull, which allowed Corey Trombley and Kyle Hart to start on the front row. Hart would take the lead on the start as Dylan Bancroft worked into the second position. 3 cautions were displayed in the opening 7 laps. Hart would keep his lead as some hard chargers made their way to the front. Taylor Caprara, Joe Papin, Bryan Sherwood and Jeff Pringle all would be engaged in a side by side battle for position allowing Hart to pull away. Hart would hold off Papin on the final restart on lap 15 and win his first feature in the modifieds since making the switch from INEX Legends last season.

Next week, EMRP hosts it’s annual First Responders Night presented by S&R Automotive. In addition, it will also be box car races for the kids during intermission. The Kinney Drugs Sportsman Modifieds, Excess Storage Pro Late Models, Christman Fuel Service INEX Legends, Stewart’s Shops Sport Compacts and Fenix U-Pull U-Save Syracuse Thunderstocks will all be in action.
